Protecting our Community
The Haymarket Police Department works everyday to serve our community. We continuously look for ways to protect our residents and citizens. Conducting business checks, enhanced patrols, and property checks are just a few of the day-to-day crime prevention methods we use to meet our objectives.
When conducting research and development on today's cutting edge technology, we discovered that Automated License Plate Readers, (ALPR) were greatly assisting in preventing the theft of vehicles while simultaneously assisting in their recovery. ALPR's also assist in finding missing children/adults, fugitives, and solving crimes.
In July 2025, the HPD applied for a HEAT, (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) grant. The grant was awarded and as of today, September 16, 2025, Community Safety ALPR's have been deployed in the Town of Haymarket. We will now be able to better prevent crime, protect our community and solve cases.
I would like to remind our citizens that the Community Safety Cameras, (ALPR's) are NOT speed cameras. Community Safety Cameras do not track speed nor populate tickets.
Please feel free to reach out to Chief Allen Sibert should you have any questions or concerns.
