Protecting our Community

The Haymarket Police Department works everyday to serve our community.  We continuously look for ways to protect our residents and citizens.  Conducting business checks, enhanced patrols, and property checks are just a few of the day-to-day crime prevention methods we use to meet our objectives.

When conducting research and development on today's cutting edge technology, we discovered that Automated License Plate Readers, (ALPR) were greatly assisting in preventing the theft of vehicles while simultaneously assisting in their recovery.  ALPR's also assist in finding missing children/adults, fugitives, and solving crimes.
Several Months ago, we began the process to bring this technology to Haymarket.  I'm happy to report that as of today, September 16, 2025, we have done just that.  I'm also happy to report that due to the application and acceptance of a HEAT, (Help Eliminate Auto Theft) grant, we were able to obtain $12,000 in technology at a cost of $2000 to the local taxpayers, offsetting $10,000.
We will now be able to better protect our community and solve crime when it happens.
